Discover the Excitement of Exploring & Learning in a Woodland Environment
Suitable for all ages and abilities, often children who find the classroom setting challenging will excel at Forest School.
Children spend a half day every week for a minimum of six weeks in the woods lead by Celtic Harmony Forest School Practitioners. The first session of activities takes place in the children’s educational setting such as school playground or playing fields. The successive sessions take place in a woodland close to the school or in the woods at Celtic Harmony Camp.
Games are played and small achievable tasks are set, allowing children’s self-esteem and independence skills to develop. The day is tailored to children’s mood, abilities and learning styles.
Typical Programme for Early Years
Day Two
- Welcome in car park
- Introduction Face Paint in the Roundhouse
- Safety Explanation through Meadow Games
- Woodland Games: Meet a Tree , Journey Rope, Treasure Hunt & Mud Faces on Trees
- Storytelling
Day Six
- Gather Fire Wood : assessing twigs for dryness and thickness
- Talk about safe behaviour in the fire area
- Identify types of stick needed to toast marshmallows
- Whittle long sticks into a skewer with the help of an adult
- Toast Marshmallows over an open fire and learn the concept of melting points!

Evaluation Report of Forest School by the Forestry Commission
Forest School Half Day Session £7/child, adult helpers come free, for full morning or afternoon of safe & stimulating woodland activity, with a tailor-made programme to meet the needs of your group and lead by a qualified Forest School Practitioner. Minimum 15 children and maximum 25 children.
