Archery & Bushcraft Team Building - KS3 & KS4

Give your students the chance to develop their team working and creative problem solving skills in a real-life challenge, set in acres of beautiful woodland outside their established peer patterns

Groups are given a certain amount of Celtic coins and need to complete challenges to earn Celtic Gold Coins!! Challenges illustrate how Leadership, Time Management and Group Dynamics influence the outcome of the task.

The day starts with an Introduction to Bushcraft and Archery in the Iron Age Roundhouse when groups will be divided into Celtic Animal Clans and the Aim of the Day and Health & Safety presented.

Students are split into groups by teachers during the pre-trip planning session to maximise team interaction and get the most out of the team building experience. Clans will rotate around team tasks such as:

Bushcraft Challenge

  • Starting a fire without matches
  • Whittling Sticks to make a skewer
  • Cooking on an open fire

Archery Challenge

  • Learn How to use a Bow
  • Target Practice in the field
  • Field Archery in the Woodland
  • Team Tournament

Bring a packed lunch & enjoy around the fire or under the Feasting Shelter

The Day ends with an Interactive Team Talk in the Roundhouse & a Chance to count your Celtic Coins!!

'We not only believe in the importance of the individual, but also working as a team. Mr. Hart, Mrs. Persaud and Mrs McMaster accompanied Year 9 to the Celtic Harmony Camp near Hertford for some team building activities and to learn survival techniques. All the teams worked well together and everyone went back to school very tired but happy and wanting to return for some more adventures.'
